As a social and artistic practice, I open up my home 3 times a year for Open Studio Events. These events are where other visual artists and artisans gather in a spirit of “tertulia.” *
The Open Studio events are free to participate and together we work to build individual as well as group viability through the simple act of gathering, sharing, and breaking bread.
Usually we have a pot of something delicious cooking on the stove, or, weather permitting, there’s something grilling out back.
Cucuy, the resident macaw will be in good form talking your ear off if you let her. The cats roam in and out, but don’t believe them when they tell you they are starving. Especially the fat one, she lies like a mafia boss.
These events are a great way to come see art and talk with the makers in a comfortable low pressure environment. There’s something for just about everyone.
The door is open, come on in.

Due to COVID-19, all Tertulias are cancelled until further notice.

* (A tertulia is rather similar to a salon, but a typical tertulia in recent centuries has been a regularly scheduled event in a public place such as a bar, although some tertulias are held in more private spaces, such as someone’s living room. Participants, known as contertulios, may share their recent creations such as poetry, short stories, other writings, and even artwork or songs. Usually, but not always, the participants in a regularly scheduled tertulia are in some respects like-minded, with similar political or literary tastes. —wikipedia)
